Declutter and Replace

The first step to create a dreamlike and romantic bedroom is to declutter your bedroom. Discard objects that do not belong there. Remove the sheets and covers from your bed and take a good look at the quality of your mattress and linen. Your bed is the focal point of your bedroom, and you roughly spend a third of your life sleeping on it. If your mattress is worn and torn, it is time to replace it with a new one! And while you’re at it, dust the curtain rails properly as well. Getting rid of all that excess dust that sits up there will be beneficial for the quality of your sleep as well, because you will breathe in less rubbish during the night.

When you hang the curtains after you’ve cleaned them, hang up a wooden heart or a beautifully crafted love bird to give the room a hint of a holiday vibe. Be creative in this! You know your partner’s likes and dislikes, so play to his or her ideas about what is aesthetically pleasing.

To add to the atmosphere of your Valentine’s day bedroom it is essential to pay attention to romantic lighting. Think about red or white candles and fairy lights. Make sure that the room is aerated throughout the day, so that the air is clean and fresh by the time you retire to your bedroom. We mentioned decluttering earlier on in the article… To create a loving vibe in the bedroom, you should really put those old magazines away. Make sure that your shoes are in the cupboard and that there are no socks lying around. Clear the dresser of all those old sticky makeup remover bottles and dusty eyeliner pencils. Your bedroom has to be crisp and clean by the time you want to go to bed.

To add onto the romantic atmosphere in the room, avoid talking about work or finances on Valentine’s night. Rather talk about exciting future holiday prospects or about how well your partner compliments you. Try to keep conversation light and breezy. However, if you must get serious, talk about your future plans and not about how horrible your boss was at work today!
