21/11/2024 Congratulations to Joanne Coetzee from Randburg for winning the Sealy Posturepedic Ponto Firm Queen bed valued at R12599!
With every new season, change is bound to come along. This year, it will be no different. We all entered our homes for a nationwide lockdown as summer was on its end. Now that everything is slowly returning back to normal winter is already here.
For a lot of people, the change of the season has caught them off guard. In a panic, you might’ve realised that you don’t have any proper winter bedding for the cold season that lies ahead. Not to fear! At The Mattress Warehouse, we’ve got a few tricks up our sleeve. With us on your side, your winter bedding problems will come to an end.
We stock bedding sets of all sizes to keep you warm through the chilly nights that lie ahead. Furthermore, if you’re looking for some new design inspiration for your winter bedroom, then read on! We’ll be providing some expert tips on choosing your own winter bedding sets and sheeting, as well as giving you a couple of winter bedroom design tips along the way.
A perfect bedding set complements the look and feel of your bedroom. It also provides you with the needed warmth in winter, whilst cooling you down in summer.
First things first, pick a duvet inner for your bedroom. When choosing a comforter or duvet inner, make sure you get one that is the same size or one size larger than your bed. This way, your mattress is neatly covered when your bed is made.
A comforter is a thick, fluffy, quilted blanket. One can sleep under a comforter without a duvet cover. These bedding pieces usually come in bedding sets that include the comforter, pillows and sheets. Usually, a comforter is filled with synthetic polyester filling, which makes them very easy to wash and hang dry.
A duvet is a soft, flat type of comforter that can be filled with synthetic fibres or down such as wool or feathers. These bedding items are usually covered with a duvet cover, which makes them such a practical bedding option. Simply remove and wash the duvet cover if it is dirty. Having a duvet is also versatile, since you can personalise your seasonal bedroom with a different duvet cover set when you want to mix things up!
Choosing a duvet that works for you is totally dependant on your needs. As previously mentioned, duvet cover fillings are usually synthetic or organic.
Synthetic fillings are great for the allergy-sufferers amongst us. Synthetic fillings are also a much cheaper option, should you be on a tight budget. In the past, synthetic filled duvets weren’t as durable and long-lasting as their organic counterparts. However, in recent years this has changed. With new technology to create better quality synthetic fibres, these duvets have become just as great as their down counterparts.
Organic fillings, such as feathers or wool, are also a great option for duvet fillings. These two types of fillings naturally keep the animals that they come from warm in the winter, and cool in summer. Therefore, organic fillings have naturally ideal insulating properties. Sleeping under a down duvet will keep you warm in the winter yet cool in summertime. One thing to remember about these duvets; they are not machine washable, dry clean only. Therefore, should you opt for a down duvet, cleaning it may ask a little bit more effort from your side.
Choosing bed sheets for your winter style bedroom is where the fun begins! From here, you get to decide the theme that your winter bedroom will take on.
We love our beds as plain as a blank canvas with pure white duvet covers and sheets. From there, you can decorate with cushions and throw pillows to your hearts content! What’s more, choosing neutral bedding sheets is a much cheaper option in the long run. If you want to change up your bedroom theme in the future, you don’t have to buy a new duvet cover, pillows and throws. Only the latter two which is the cheaper option.
Choosing bedding can sometimes make your head spin. We have one rule of thumb to help you choose the perfect quality bedding.
Typically, the higher the thread count, the better quality your bedding will be. The thread count indicates how tightly woven the fabric is. Therefore, a high thread count indicates a tight weave and, consequently, creates a smoother and softer feel to the fabric.
Now that your bedding is all sorted, it’s time for the fun to begin! Make your winter bedroom even more snuggly and cosy with cushions and throws to complement your bedroom theme.
