Are you tired of sleeping in a curled up little ball, or diagonally across the bed? We get that. Good sleep is what The Mattress Warehouse is about, so if you want to stop feeling cramped up in bed, keep on reading as we tell you everything you need to know about extra length beds.
However, before we tell you about various different extra length mattresses, we thought it would be wise to answer some common questions people ask about long beds.
The short answer? Yes you can!
So if you are one of those tall people that wake up with spinal aches and bed cramps in the morning, there is some light at the end of the tunnel. All you need to do is get your hands on one of these extra long beds.
Standard beds are normally 188 cm long, whereas extra long beds are 200 cm long. If that is still too short for you, there are longer beds still, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here…
People also ask what the measurements of extra long beds are. But because these questions are basically the same, we lumped them into one category.
The longest bed you can buy is known as a California King bed.
Where an extra long king size bed is 200 cm in length, a California King is 213 cm long. And just for the record, both of these beds are 183 cm wide (nearly as wide as normal beds are long. Pure luxury!)
There is another type of luxury bed that you should be aware of. The Super King bed. Not only is this bed extra long, it is also extra wide! These beds are 200 cm wide and 200 cm long.
For the average South African, buying a normal length bed would leave you with more than enough space to sleep restfully. That is because the average height in South Africa varies between 158- and 177 cm. And if you have 10 cm of extra space to stretch out your legs, you are sure to have a great night’s sleep!
However, if you are taller than 180 cm, you should consider buying an extra length bed.
But before you do that, it is advisable to make sure that your new bed will actually fit in your bedroom. A good rule of thumb is to have at least 1 meter of floor space between your bed and the wall/closet.
